Blog Post 5

I decided to analyze article 7-A in Perspectives on Globalization. It's called Put Your Money Where Their Mouths Are. I liked this article because it has a good voice that is easy to follow, and the author makes good points about the issue he's discussing.  His purpose is to point out an issue that most people, myself included, don't understand. He says that if we put bans on child labor these people will get even poorer because if they're not working they have to way to make money to live. He addresses counter-arguments by acknowledging that the child labor laws, which forbid children to work, have good motives such as getting the kids to school. He addresses these points well by talking about how school ends at 4th grade and that they really need money, so they're going to go work. He proposes an easy solution to the issue he's bringing up which is to provide food at schools for kids. That's the way to get them to come to school. If there's food there, more kids will come. He even shared that it only costs 19 cents per child per day. He makes it sound very logical and reasonable to put our money there instead of forcing companies to not hire them and make the kids poorer. The feeding scheme will even give girls food to take home to their families, therefore reducing the need for them to work. It's a good plan that I might support one day.
